Sensei Ivan Barbic (2nd Degree Black Belt - Nidan)
Sensei Ivan Barbic began training in Tae Kwon Do in Melbourne in 1993. Studying under Robert Lai 6th Degree black Belt. In that time competing in local competitions and state level championships.
From there moving to Chelsea, Victoria began training in Wing Chun Kung Fu under
Sifu Cameron Douglas Level 10 instructor - Gold Sash Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu.
At the end of 2002 began training in Combat Kai – Mixed Martial Arts under instructor Shihan Cameron Douglas 6th Degree Black Belt.
This all led to the Karate journey beginning 2008 until today in Shotokan / Goju Karate under Instructor – Sensei Andy Kent – 4th Degree Black Belt.
In 2013 Sensei Andy Kent relocated to Cambodia for work and to open the Australian/Cambodia Karate (Goju Ryu) – Shimbukai Karate Academy.
Sensei Dan O’Sullivan and Sensei Ivan Barbic as first students of Andy Kent’s Shihdo Karate where left to decide whether to continue the Dojo or look at somewhere else to train. As we were passionate about Karate, our Dojo and students Dan O’Sullivan took on the position of head instructor with Ivan Barbic assistant instructor. Forward to the end of 2016 with work and personal training commitments Dan stepped down from instructing and the running of Fangshi Karate.

Sensei Ivan Barbic is passionate about karate and martial arts has devoted a lot of his life to martial arts. Has trained with renowned martial arts masters and continues to expand his knowledge and commitment to providing the highest level of instruction to the school.
Sensei Ivan Barbic is dedicated to promoting the martial arts as well as passing on the benefits of Shotokan Karate – The Way of the Shotokan (See Dojo -kun).
